The Details...

13 August 2000

Subsequent to the announcement, it seems Villa have made the details public anyway. Albion will receive £1.25 million plus ten percent of the "balance", whatever that means. So if Ugo goes for 8 million, one would guess that we'd get 1.25 plus 800,000 - just over 2 million. Of course, if a bidding war starts up for him, it could be more... From Thompson's statement that this is just a short term deal, can we assume that it's dependant on him being sold - or is it a lump sum regardless?

However, statements made recently by Ehiogu suggest that he's now happy to stay at Villa and see out his contract. Whether these were made before the settlement was reached - and whether it changes anything - remains to be seen.
