Santos joins the Blades

05 July 2000

Midfield target Georges Santos won't be joining us, however, after accepting an offer of a two year contract at Sheffield United, with the option of a third year. Obviously the terms on offer there were somehow better than we were offering and the interest from this mystery foreign club that always seemed to be mentioned seems to have petered out. The signing comes despite Albion raising their original offer from one year to two, while saying openly that they felt his wage demands were excessive and that they felt their offer was a good one. The loss of Santos and Flynn means that the midfield has perhaps become a bit more of a priority area for strengthening.
