Dear Shareholder

West Bromwich Albion Plc - EGM on 8 July 1999

I am writing to thank you for participating in the debate about the future of our Club and for giving fair consideration to the matters raised, both before and at the EGM.

Along with Barry Hurst and Clive Stapleton, I would particularly like to thank those shareholders who were able to join us in voting for the resolution. We were able together to account for 47% of the votes cast but that was not quite enough to bring about the change which we believed to be in the interests of the Club.

You are probably aware of the final vote which was:

For the Resolution   Against the Resolution
  37,826 votes - 47%   42,829 votes - 53%

I am pleased that shareholders have made it clear that they are not happy with mediocrity and under-performance and that we want a much better future for our Club than we have seen over the past few years.

I hope that Mr Hale will now bring the success to the Club that all Baggies supporters deserve and if he does, I will be the first to congratulate him.

I believe the vote at the EGM is the beginning and not the end and responsibility for a successful future for the Club now rests firmly on the shoulders of Mr Hale.

I now hope that Mr Hale will take the necessary action to strengthen the team, develop the training ground, improve our marketing strategy and redevelop the Rainbow Stand. I also hope that we will see the team in the top six at the end of the coming season.

I will be sitting behind the goal at the Birmingham Road end and I look forward to seeing some of you from time to time.

Best wishes to you all.

Yours sincerely

PAUL THOMPSON
