Manager developments?

28 May 2009

Reports suggest that Celtic will be stepping up their pursuit of Tony Mowbray after their first choice, Owen Coyle, turned down the job to remain with newly promoted Burnley. The Daily Record are reporting that his family don't wish to move there and Coyle himself would lose the half a million bonus he would get for winning promotion with Burnley and that he wouldn't be compensated for this by Celtic.

Albion, meanwhile, have issued a further statement saying that they have had no approach from Celtic and that they still expect Mowbray to be managing them next season. Although some people seem to be worried that Mowbray has been unavailable for comment, this may simply be a result of his wife expecting their third child any minute. However, in the absence of any formal appoach from Celtic he may simply feel that no comment is really needed.
