Summary:

Albion made it two wins in a row and progressed to Round Four of the League Cup for the first time in four years thanks to a late brace of goals. Starting in a side that was completely different to the one that beat Spurs on Sunday, Brown Ideye had put them ahead after 15 minutes but had to be substituted shortly afterwards by Georgios Samaras.

Hull responded by scoring twice, through Tom Ince before the break and Robbie Brady just after, and the tie looked to have slowed down as time started to run out. But Alan Irvine brought on Saido Berahino for Victor Anichebe and then Silvestre Varela for Youssouf Mulumbu and the game swung back towards Albion, culminating in Gareth McAuley's volleyed equaliser after a series of Albion corners and Berahino's winner a minute later from close range.

The victory earned Albion a visit to Bournemouth in the next round, but more importantly a boost in confidence ahead of Sunday's crucial encounter with Burnley and some impressive performances from some of the newer additions such as Varela, Christian Gamboa and Sebastian Blanco as well as the home-grown Liam O'Neil.
