Summary:

Albion recorded their first point of the season thanks to a battling display at Goodison Park. Nicolas Anelka missed out through bereavement leave and was replaced by Markus Rosenberg while new signing Scott Sinclair was given a place on the bench.

Chances were few for either side, although Everton had the upper hand for most of the game. Worryingly, Ben Foster limped off with about fifteen minutes to play to be replaced by Luke Daniels, finally making his first team debut despite now being the club's longest serving player.

Matej Vydra replaced Rosenberg and Chris Brunt replaced Shane Long as Albion held on for the point against late Everton pressure, Marouane Fellaini coming closest when he beat Daniels but hit the post.
